The Bryson family
Since 1855 five generations of the Bryson family have been involved in agriculture and the unique and fertile land in South Australia. The family business was initially established at Padthaway by Clive and Elizabeth Bryson in 1955 and the day-to-day operations are managed by the next generation, Andrew, David and their partners.
The Bryson family vineyard at Padthaway is planted on some of the world’s oldest mineral rich soils and in the most temperate of maritime climates. Their vineyard consistently produces excellent fruit quality from low yielding vines from which exceptional wines are handcrafted.
The gently undulating country of Padthaway is a neighbour to the Coonawarra wine region. It has climatic similarities and a good slice of terra rossa, the famed soil of the Limestone Coast. 1944 the CSIRO recommended the Padthaway region for horticulture due to its rich soil and underground water supply. The climate is “Maritime” with coastal influences, ideal for vineyards producing fruit for sparkling, red and white table wine.
